Rise of the Tomb Raider is a third-person action-adventure game in which players control Lara Croft as she searches for the legendary city of Kitezh and a promise of immortality. Combat involves firearms, stealth, and melee weapons, while semi-open hub areas offer challenge tombs with puzzles, side missions, and resource scavenging for crafting. Players earn experience and unlock skills across three trees focused on combat, hunting, and survival. The game features an Expeditions mode that allows replaying levels with modifiers in place of traditional multiplayer.

Critics RecommendA year after her experiences on Yamatai, archaeologist Lara Croft turns to her late father's research on the lost city of Kitezh and an artifact called the Divine Source, said to grant immortality. Her search leads her from Syria to the wilderness of Siberia, where she encounters Trinity, a paramilitary organization also seeking the artifact. After being captured and escaping with the help of a man named Jacob, Lara allies with his people, the Remnants, descendants of Kitezh's original inhabitants, to reach the city before Trinity can claim its power.
